William D. Antrobus
William D. Antrobus joined the NWMP in March of 1874, as a constable. He gradually moved up in the ranks, reaching Superintendent in 1886. He accompanied Brisebois to Fort Calgary and also served at Fort Walsh, Battleford and Fort Saskatchewan in an 18 year career. Like many other officers and policemen, Antrobus had a drinking problem, which in his case, led to the ending of his career.
In 1891, Antrobus was reduced to the rank of Inspector, suspended, then released from duty in 1892. He was accused of falsifying documents, stealing, ordering his quartermaster to make false entries in the post ledger and drunkenness. His defense was 'that infernal demon, drink'.
