Inspector A. H. Griesbach, mounted.

Inspector A. H. Griesbach came to the NWMP after serving with the 15th Hussars, the Cape Mounted Rifles and on the Red River Expedition in 1870. Griesbach was the first man to enlist with the NWMP.

He impressed Commissioner French who noted that Griesbach was an excellent instructor for the both the mounted and unmounted drills. At the end of the March West, Griesbach served at the Swan River Barracks. In 1876 he was made a Sub-Inspector. Much of his career was dedicated to Fort Saskatchewan.
