Charles Constantine
Charles Constantine came to Canada from Britain. He joined the Red River Expedition to oust Riel then fought against him again during the North–West Rebellion. It was after this event that Constantine joined the NWMP as an Inspector.
Constantine initially was to assess the Yukon for policing requirements. He reported back that 50 men would be needed; he returned the following year with nineteen. Thus he began a long association with the north, establishing posts throughout the region and making the first patrols to the Arctic coast.
Constantine died in 1912 in California while on leave.
